The amendment abolishes the obligation to draw up rules for handling hazardous chemical substances and mixtures
On Tuesday 21 April 2020 at 18:29, vote No. 47 approved an amendment to Czech Act No. 258/2000 Coll. on the Protection of Public Health. The law will take effect once it is signed by the President of the Czech Republic. Specifically, Section 44a(7) was repealed:
(7) A legal entity or a natural person conducting business is obliged to issue, for a workplace where hazardous chemical substances or chemical mixtures classified as highly toxic, toxic, corrosive, carcinogenic category 1 or 2, mutagenic category 1 or 2 or toxic for reproduction category 1 or 2 are handled, as well as substances and mixtures assigned the hazard category or categories carcinogenicity category 1A or 1B, germ cell mutagenicity category 1A or 1B and reproductive toxicity category 1A or 1B, written rules on safety, health protection and environmental protection when working with them. The rules must be freely available to employees in the workplace and must contain, in particular, information on the hazardous properties of the substances and mixtures referred to in the first sentence that employees handle, instructions for safety, health protection and environmental protection, instructions for first aid and the procedure in the event of an accident. The legal entity or natural person conducting business is obliged to discuss the text of the rules with the public health protection authority competent for the place of activity.
