Imagine a person suddenly collapsing next to you. Every second counts. You call an ambulance, but by the time it arrives, it may be too late. That is exactly why automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are appearing in more and more public places – including Rokycany, where two new devices installed by our company, Rescue Group, have just been added. Below you can listen to an interview with the head of our company, Miroslav Dolanský, about the AED installation in Rokycany and why these devices matter.
The new AEDs are located in the shopping centre on Boženy Němcové street and on the wall of the arcade of the Žďár department store. Any passer-by can now save a life in an emergency.
“An external defibrillator works with any cardiac emergency. You just open it and follow the voice instructions. The device itself assesses whether a shock is needed or whether chest compressions should be performed,” explains Miroslav Dolanský of our company Rescue Group.
Information panel
The installation also includes an information sign describing the first aid procedure in detail. Users learn how to check basic vital signs, how to use the device correctly and what to do before defibrillation itself.
Emergency medical service
The importance of these devices is confirmed by Luboš Bouček, spokesperson for the Pilsen Region emergency medical service: “An AED significantly increases the chance of survival in the event of sudden cardiac arrest. AEDs have already saved many lives.”
Inspiration from abroad
The town of Rokycany therefore plans to expand their number. According to mayor Tomáš Rada, the inspiration comes from abroad, where AEDs are commonly available not only inside buildings, but also in public spaces. This means they are available 24 hours a day.
The locations of all AEDs can be found in the Záchranka app. It may come in handy – you never know when you will need to save a life.
